League of Friends member Pat Round visiting a patient as part of our 'Visiting' scheme. The League of Friends of Warwick Hospital started in 1953. Since then the group has gone from strength to strength relying on the commitment of the volunteers. One of the longest associated members is Miss Stephanie Reed who was a nurse at Warwick Hospital for any years. Stephanie has now become our lifelong president.

Originally the League of Friends was there to raise money to purchase luxuries. Today due to the continued and rapid advancement of technology the League are increasingly asked to purchase equipment. Today we work with the Trust to help manage the funds we raise as effectively as possible.

Over the last five years we have purchased equipment worth over a quarter of a million pounds.

More recently as part of a project through the National Charity "Hospital & Community Friends" the League of Friends was able to employ a co-ordinator. This position was funded by a grant from Head Office in Essex. This new role proved very successful and after the three years the Trust and League agreed to support the role of the Co-ordinator. At present this position is reviewed yearly.

We are committed to supporting our local hospital; our aim is to support staff, patients and the community.
